Rice County Sheriff Jesse Thomas released details today about the early morning Memorial Day disturbance call in Morristown.

The Sheriff earlier sent a news release stating the call came to dispatch at 12:41 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2022.

Deputies were dispatched to 103 2nd Street SE in Morristown and, "Upon arriving on the scene, Patrol Deputies made contact with a male, identified as Cody Vernon Kolstad, age 33, outside the residence who state a person was badly injured inside.  The Patrol Deputies entered the residence where they located an injured male."

The victim is identified as Brian Daniel Stoeckel, age 41.

The news release goes on to state, "Kolstad was taken into custody without incident.  He was booked into the Rice County Jail on probable cause Murder. This is an isolated incident and there is no active threat to the public at this time. This investigation is still active. The Rice County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension."
