Nasty Cold Through the Weekend
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The National Weather Service has put the entire state of Minnesota under a wind chill advisory.
It will be in effect from 6 PM Wednesday through noon Thursday while a mass of arctic air pushes the air temperature well below zero statewide. In the Rochester area, the mercury is forecast to dip to between 5 and 10 below zero, with wind chill readings expected in the -20 to -30 degree range by Thursday morning. Areas off northern Minnesota are being told to brace for “feels like” readings of -35 and colder.
Earlier Wednesday, the National Weather Service reported the wind chill hit -50 in parts of northern Minnesota and reached -30 in parts of southeastern Minnesota Wednesday morning.
