Byron, MN (KROC AM News) -  A rural Olmsted County man was killed over the weekend while cutting trees at his residence.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says 59-year-old Raymond Phelps was alone at the time. His wife returned home around 5 p.m. Saturday and called 911 after finding him dead.

Phelps was apparently cutting a limb when it fell the wrong way and hit the tree he was working on, causing the trunk to fall and hit him on the head.

The residence where it happened is located in the 7300 block of Genoa Rd, just west of Douglas and north of Byron.
