Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - An Owatonna woman was taken into custody Thursday night after tearing up a Rochester home, causing considerable damage.

Police received a 911 call around 7 p.m. from a neighbor of the woman who owns the home in the 1200 block of 4th St. NW, a few blocks from St. Mary’s.

The 70 year old victim - who lives alone and suffers from dementia - told officers an unknown woman and a young girl came into her house inquiring about a dog. The woman told the stranger she didn’t have a dog. That’s when the intruder knocked over a china hutch and began throwing items around the home. The victim left and went to the neighbor’s home.

After causing damage estimated at between $3,000 - $4,000, the intruder left. She was seen pushing the 4 year old girl in a stroller. Officers spotted her a few blocks away and suspecting she had been drinking and was on drugs, took her to St. Mary’s for a psychological evaluation. She was later taken to jail and is facing charges. She has been identified as 20 year old Mackenzie Hill.

Police learned she was a personal care attendant for an Owatonna woman who was staying at the Ronald McDonald House with her two children. The woman had gone to visit her child at St. Mary’s and left her 4 year old daughter in Hill’s care.
