Preston Bowling Alley Wiped Out by Fire
Preston, MN (KROC AM News) - A New Year’s Day fire wiped out a popular Preston business.
Fillmore County Sheriff Tom Kaase says multiple 911 calls came in shortly before 5:45 a.m. from people reporting a fire at the B&B Olympic Bowling Alley and Restaurant along Highway 52. The establishment is owned by Shelly and Paul Hanson, and one of the 911 calls was made by Shelly Hanson from inside the business.
A Preston Police Officer and a Fillmore County Deputy arrived at the scene within minutes and Shelly Hanson was brought outside of the burning building and was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
The Preston Fire Department requested assistance from Fountain and Harmony Fire Departments in battling the flames, which quickly engulfed the structure. Sheriff Kaase says the State Fire Marshall was called to investigate the cause of the fire, which was believed to have started in the kitchen area.
Traffic was detoured off Highway 52 while fire crews battled the blaze, which took almost 5 hours to extinguish.
