There are a LOT of surveys out these days that purport to tell us what our favorite items are during the holidays here in Minnesota. And many of them use online search data, perhaps from Google, to determine which items are our favorites. But, just because we search for them the most doesn't mean they're really the most popular, does it?

That's why this survey from the gang over at CandyStore.com seems a little more accurate to me. They surveyed 32,000 of their customers and looked at actual candy sales from all 50 states to put together this list of Most Popular Christmas Candy By State.

Now while we don't buy a huge amount of candy during the holidays, we do have a dish of Holiday Hershey Kisses sitting out, plus a glass Christmas tree we usually fill with Andes Mints, like my grandma did when I was a kid. And, of course, we usually buy some candy canes too.

But as it turns out, none of those are the Most Popular Christmas Candy here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. That honor, according to this year's CandyStore.com survey, goes to Reese's Mini Cups. Yeah, I totally didn't see that one coming. Now, at least I was somewhat close, as my Hershey's Kisses came in second, followed by Peppermint Bark at #3 on the list.

Over in my home state of Wisconsin, it's Peppermint Bark at #1, followed by Reindeer Corn and Starburst (Really? That's a holiday candy?!?). You can check out the entire list HERE.
