With COVID-19 making this summer a little interesting and not what we expected, we're getting creative with our new summer plans! How about for your next Minnesota road trip you check out the Superior National Forest.

Superior National Forest is HUGE, 3.9 million acres, so it makes social distancing insanely easy. And of course, it's home to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Thrillist writes that Superior National Forest is "one of the largest properties managed by the US Forest Service."

With the Boundary Waters, there are tons of options for canoeing and kayaking with your friends and family. There are also campsites too to spend the night that are scattered around the forest. You need to have a permit to camp there and they also only have a few select campgrounds and dispersed sites open right now due to COVID. They are also limiting which campgrounds are allowed to have campfires; you can read more about that HERE. And only some areas have the toilet facilities open, which you can read about HERE.

There are so many things you can do in Superior National Forest other than canoeing or kayaking if that's not your thing, On their website through the USDA Forest Service, other popular activities include fishing, hunting, camping, swimming, and hiking. In the winter people love to go there for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and ice fishing.

So if you're looking for a place to go on vacation where you can get outside, still stay away from others, and also stay in Minnesota, the Superior National Forest might be the perfect spot!
