Free LEGO And Dance Events For Kids In Rochester, MN This Week

We have entered the phase of summer when kids start to say "I'm bored" a little more often, moms are starting to do that back-to-school shopping trip, and all of the toys and books in the house are officially overused.

If you've got kids and are ready for a change of scenery, add these two fun activities in Rochester to your calendar this week. Not only will these get you and the kids out of the house for a bit, but you'll all have fun! One involves LEGOs and crafts. The other involves a bit of dancing.

Join In On This Free Family Dance Party In Rochester, Minnesota on Thursday

When my kids were little, there were days when they just needed to get all of their wiggles out. If you've got kids...you know. The best cure that I found was a dance party!

On Thursday, August 6th, bring your kids to the Family Dance Party at the Rochester Public Library. The music kicks off at 10:30 am in the auditorium, and you can enjoy non-stop dancing fun for 30 minutes. This is open for all families with kids ages 0 to 12.

Got Kids Who Love LEGO? Don't Miss This Event In Rochester on Friday

In 1932, the LEGO company was founded...but they didn't start with plastic bricks at that point. Nope, the first bricks were actually made of wood. Plastic bricks were introduced in 1949 and are the direct predecessor to what we know today as LEGO.

If your kids would love a LEGO building challenge, the Rochester Public Library has a fun adventure for families on Friday, August 7th. Bring your kids to the Auditorium at the library at 2:30 pm for an hour of LEGO building challenges and creative craft projects. This is open for kids ages 6 to 12.

Rochester Locals Re-name One Of The Popular Pieces of Art

Just outside the Rochester Art Center is a large, silver piece of art that is labeled "Tapered Arch-Shaped Sculpture" on Google Maps in Rochester, Minnesota. This 30-foot stainless steel piece of art was created by Po Shu Wang and installed in 2017. If you go inside the Mayo Civic Center, you'll also notice a kiosk that allows visitors to interact with this art sculpture.

Since its installation, several nicknames have been given by locals for this piece of art. Below are some of the more common names that people have given this shiny object throughout the years.
