Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester area saw a slight drop in unemployment last month.

The latest data from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development shows the jobless rate for Olmsted County fell a tenth of a point to 3.1-percent in July. While the decline from June was modest, the rate was down four-tenths of a point when compared to last July.

The Rochester area continued to enjoy the lowest unemployment rate in the region and the rate from last month was the lowest for the month of July since 2001.

Freeborn and Houston counties saw slight increases in unemployment last month, while the other counties in southeastern Minnesota reported steady or slightly lower jobless rates. Freeborn County had the highest rate at 4-percent.
