Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester bars, restaurants and other venues were busy Friday with St. Patrick’s Day customers. And many of the revelers were off to an early start.

Most downtown sites were busy during the noon hour.

One may have been louder than the others.

The popular Rochester Caledonian Pipe Band began its long day of appearances with a noon stop at Dooley’s. The group that includes bagpipe players was booked for eleven St. Patrick’s Day events with the last one at Whistle Binkies South at 9:30 p.m.

Downtown Rochester is expected to be pretty busy into Friday evening.

Besides those taking part in St. Patrick’s Day festivities, hundreds are also expected to attend the Lakeville North/Rochester John Marshall high school boys basketball game at the Mayo Civic Center. It has an 8 p.m. start time. The winner heads to next week’s state tournament.
