32-year-old Jacob Kaput was on probation for a felony DUI conviction in Freeborn County when his pickup smashed into the back of another pickup. The other driver, 23-year-old Harvey Friedrichs of Rochester, was transported to St. Mary's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kaput, who has four previous drunk driving-related convictions on his record, now faces another felony DUI charge, along with a count of criminal vehicular operation. The criminal complaint states that a preliminary test put his blood-alcohol-concentration at twice the legal limit after the crash.
