The Rochester Minnesota Hy-Vee, at West Circle Drive NW, is about to get bigger, and maybe you can thank the pandemic for that.

Plans filed with the City of Rochester show a different solution for grocery pickup than you'll find at many of theirs and other stores. In Rochester, the plan is for a 1,200 square foot kiosk so you can drive up, and staff will be on hand to help with your pickup.

In other cities, Hy-Vee and many other businesses, such as big-box hardware stores, have used lockers to store your pick-up order. Enter the code you were given at checkout and boop, you're in.

I don't know for certain this is a result of Covid-19, but so many people are using online shopping and then picking up, it is a pretty good guess.

Personal Note: Can you believe Hy-Vee opened the West Circle Drive location in 2015? It feels more like a couple years at best. Your then 15-yaer-old kid is now 20! It was the first season of Schitt's Creek, and The Fabulous Thunderbirds played Down By The Riverside! ((sigh)) Good times.

With the weather getting super cold, it's too bad the kiosk isn't already a thing. Just drive up and voop...no cold for you. On the other hand, it's not like we're super cold here...thank goodness for that for the people working in the cold, right? Here's where it is super cold.
