New Video: Ear of Corn Water Tower More Beautiful Than Ever

If there is one truth that remains constant, it's that we will never not want to see more videos of the Ear of Corn Water Tower in Rochester, Minnesota. And today, I found just that, a beautiful and inspiring drone video of ol' Colonel Cobb.

The Ear of Corn Water Tower Belongs to the People of Olmsted County

The Ear of Corn Water Tower, all 151 feet of it, was built in 1931 for use at the Reid, Murdoch, and Co. food cannery. Because it was lit by 10 bright spotlights, it was also used by the Army Air Corps and Air Force to find the nearby airport 'til the 1960s (yes, the airport used to be pretty close to Downtown Rochester).

Libby Libby Libby (on the label label label) bought the cannery in 1948. In 1982, they sold it to Seneca Foods (no catchy jingle goes here). How did we come to own it?

Well, Seneca shut down for good and was demolished. But, the tower was purchased by Olmsted County in 2019 so it stuck around. In 2021 (was it really just last summer?) the tower was restored and won the People’s Choice Award in Tnemec’s annual “Tank of the Year” Contest.

So yeah, the Ear of Corn Water Tower is our baby, and like proud parents, we love seeing new videos of it. Bing Err strikes again with this outstanding video.
