Distributing Christmas Gifts for Families in Need

The toy collection is done, the plans have been made, the applications forms are in and sorted and now families are just waiting for the big event. The Salvation Army of Rochester's annual Toy and Joy Shop is Tuesday, December 21, and Wednesday, December 22.

It's short notice, but they could use a bunch of volunteers!. Please, if you have a couple of hours, help out by emailing Lisa.Mueller@usc.SalvationArmy.org.

The Salvation Army will be distributing toys to nearly 1,000 children over the two days and that is a LOT of volunteer hours to be filled. especially in the afternoon. Many hands make light work...and in this case, each hand is telling our community's children they're important. Please email Lisa.Mueller@usc.SalvationArmy.org for more information.

Gifts have been donated by generous community members since November to the local Toys for Tots, the Walmart stores, the Sharing Tree in the Apache Mall, AKE, and Evangel United Methodist Church.

Major Lisa Mueller, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army in Rochester said,

“This event is such a blessing every year, both to the families who come to us for help and to the people who make this event possible. Knowing that you’ve made a child’s Christmas bright, and lifted a burden from the shoulders of hard-working parents, I truly don’t know what could get you more into the Christmas spirit.”
