It's always a good idea to make sure your home is prepared for an emergency, and two Rochester stores are helping you do that on Thursday.

That round of severe weather that blew through southeast Minnesota last week (where it was discovered a few days later that an actual tornado had touched down) caused property damage along with some major power outages. It also proved how important it is to have a home safety kit at your house.

If you're a little lacking in that area (like our house is), Rochester's two Spectrum Mobile stores can help you out on Thursday (June 13th, 2019). According to an email release, they're celebrating their grand opening with a ceremony at their store on Marketplace Drive, near Target North, at 10 a.m.

But they're also giving away free Health and Safety Home Kits-- complete with a weather radio, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide tester, and other helpful supplies. And, yes, you read that right-- they're free... while supplies last, of course. The release also said the stores will also feature interactive displays that "showcase the latest mobile devices and accessories."

The release said the kits would be available (again, while supplies last) starting at 10 a.m. at both Spectrum Mobile locations on Marketplace Drive (near Target North) and on Maine Avenue (near Target South and the Shops On Maine) in Rochester.

Listen to Curt St. John from 6 to 10 a.m. on Quick Country 96.5
