Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Teachers in the Rochester School District are one step away from a new employment contract. The membership of the Rochester Education Associated voted Wednesday evening to approve a new two-year contract by a 2-1 margin, with 67-percent of the teachers voting in favor of the new agreement.

It replaces the previous contract between the REA and the Rochester School District that was ratified in the spring of 2018 but covered the two-year period that ran from July 2015 through June of last year. The teachers have now been working under the terms of the expired contract for almost 10 months.

The terms of the new contract agreement still haven’t made public, but will be before the Rochester School Board is asked to officially ratify the deal next week.
