A Rochester man nearly bled to death yesterday after police say he was stabbed by his girlfriend.  Police Captain John Sherwin says the two got into an argument around 3:30 a.m. in their apartment in the 1200 block of 4 ½ street northwest and the woman grabbed a knife and cut her 21 year old boyfriend in the upper leg, hitting an artery.

Sherwin says the man was bleeding heavily and his life may have been saved by his girlfriend, who used a sock as a makeshift tourniquet.  He was taken to St. Mary’s for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

He was able to talk to officers yesterday and told them he had been attacked by two men.  Sherwin says the man’s girlfriend - 22 year old Anika Bradley - told investigators she was the one who stabbed him.   She was arrested and is expected to face a felony assault charge.
