Rochester Woman Sentenced For Theft From Ailing Mother
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester woman was sentenced Monday for taking money from her elderly mother for her personal use.
68-year-old Anne Reick has been placed on probation for five years and has been ordered to perform 100 hours of community service. In addition, she has been ordered to pay over $9200 in restitution.
Reick previously pleaded guilty to a single count of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult in a plea deal that led to the dismissal of four other felony charges. She was granted a stay of adjudication, which means the conviction will not be entered on her criminal record if Reick successfully completes the terms of her probation.
She was charged in the case in November 2018 after an investigation was launched into withdrawals from her mother's bank account beginning in early 2016 and continuing through the end of 2017.
Court records indicate Reick's mother was living in a nursing home and was classified as a vulnerable adult. It was alleged that she had taken about $22,000 while she had control of her mother's finances.
