Rochester’s Channel One Gets Over 15,000 Meal Donation
This year's Social Ice, called Improv-ICE, saw a whole new look thanks to Covid-19. However, the changes didn't put a chill on Rochester's generosity...in fact, we may have been more generous than ever!
The Improv-ICE Buy a Meal, Give a Meal initiative turned into 15,800 meals donated for Channel One. How'd it work? Nineteen restaurants said they'd donate a meal for every transaction made in their business.
So if you dined-in, did take out, or bought a gift card from February 6th 'til Valentine's Day, you helped feed people.
The Rochester Downtown Alliance said...
...contributing the funds to donate the meals to Channel One Regional Food Bank was a group of community supporters including Associated Bank, Benedictine Living Center, Bill the Pie Guy, Ellingson Insurance Group, Gwaltney Group, ISG, People’s Food Co-op, and Premier Banks. Together, this group raised $3,950 in community funds, which is enough to give 15,800 meals to Channel One Regional Food Bank.
"While the raised funds slightly exceed the number of meals “unlocked” by this program, the full amount raised will be donated to Channel One Regional Food Bank to support their programs."

Helping other people is a VERY Minnesota thing to do. So is collecting WAY more of something than you need. Maybe it's leftover butter tubs, napkins, whatever...you'll most certainly find it on this list.
