Sharper turns himself in; facing more charges
Former NFL star Darren Sharper, who spent time with the Vikings, is now facing rape charges in two states, and more could be on the way.
Sharper turned himself in to police in Los Angeles Thursday evening. Earlier in the day, the district attorney's office in New Orleans said Sharper and another man, Erik Nunez, each face two counts of rape. Prosecutors in California say Sharper is under investigation in Arizona and Nevada as well. Authorities in the Phoenix suburb of Tempe, Arizona say they expect to file charges against Sharper soon. In addition to that, a woman in Florida last month filed a sexual battery complaint against Sharper. The former NFL safety's attorney says the contact was all consensual with women who wanted to be in Sharper's company. Sharper played for the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints before retiring after the 2010 season.
