Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Winter is hitting Minnesota full force this week.Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing Monday night and stay there all week.  

Roads were slick Monday morning due to the re-freeze of Sunday’s snow. Public safety officials are urging motorists to be alert for scattered slippery spots.There have already several traffic mishaps in the Rochester area due to slick roads, including some vehicles that ended up off the road. Conditions are expected to improve by noon Monday.

Sunday’s snow in southeast Minnesota caught some by surprise.

The National Weather Service reports totals were in the 1 - 4 inch range. Rochester’s official total at the city airport was 2.6 inches.

It was the first real snow event of the season. It was enough to bring out the city’s snow plow trucks for the first time of the season.
