
19-Year-Old Hospitalized After SUV-Deer Collision on Interstate 90 in Winona County

St. Charles, MN (KROC-AM News)- A teenage man was taken to a hospital after the SUV he was riding in struck a deer on Interstate 90 in southeast Minnesota.

There were three people riding in the SUV. The State Patrol responded to the collision between the animal and vehicle shortly after 12:30 Monday morning in Winona County.

The SUV and deer collided three miles east of the St. Charles exit. The state crash report says the SUV was traveling west when the crash occurred.
19-year-old Isaiah Mendez Lopez of Farmington was one of the passengers riding in the SUV.

He suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was brought to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for further care, according to the State Patrol.
The driver, identified as 26-year-old Christopher Morales of Farmington and another passenger, identified as 28-year-old Joey Raymond Mendez of St. Paul, escaped the crash without injuries.
All three of the young men were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol was not involved in the crash, the state crash report says.
The Winona County Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Police Department and St. Charles Fire Department also responded to the crash.
