The Chip Challenge That is Sending Some to The Hospital
Yes, once again we have another trending challenge that people are contributing to online and is causing some to go to the hospital. The challenge is called “The One Chip Challenge” and it is done with Paqui tortilla chips.
Even marketed by the tortilla chip brand themselves, Paqui has come out with a new product, and it is one singular spicy tortilla chip in a package. The package itself is even called “One Chip Challenge 2022” where Paqui has individually packaged spicy-colored tortilla chips that contain extracts of the Carolina Reaper and Scorpion Chile pepper.
Apparently, this is not the first time Paqui has done this. They tried this back in 2021 but I don’t remember seeing this trend anywhere, so they rebranded the packaging from yellow and black to blue and black and put the product out again.
Now it is catching on and people all over are trying this chip and boy some people are facing the consequences! It is stated on the back of the package in big red letters “WARNING: Do not eat if you are sensitive to spicy foods, allergic to peppers, Nightshades, Capsaicin, or are pregnant, or have any medical conditions. Keep out of reach of children. After touching the chip wash your hands with soap and do not touch your eyes or other sensitive areas. Seek medical assistance should you experience difficulty breathing, fainting, or extended nausea.”
And of course like any other crazy challenge people who shouldn’t be contributing or are putting the challenge to the extreme are showing their fates on the internet and now it has caught on a storm! Many users on different social media have expressed everything from no reaction, to drinking gallons of milk, to coughing, to vomiting, and even calling ambulances or going to hospitals. I mean some people even put on cloves while handling the chip, so you know its bad!
So I guess if you are just dying to join in on this challenge the chip is available at places like Walmart, select gas stations, and Amazon, and is selling for between $5-15.
