When it comes to New Year's resolutions, we are approaching the break date; January 17th.  More specifically, it's that date most resolutions are either broken or become a habit that sticks.  My willpower is wildly flexible, so I've never been one to stick with resolutions, but I AM giving the Mayo Clinic Sugar Challenge a go and so far it's been a good experience.  I haven't been experiencing the afternoon sluggishness that I did previously.

The sugar challenge has two main rules when you look at the label.  Let's use the station's jar of JIF Peanut Butter as an example.

  • Foods should have 5g or less of sugar per serving. So we're good on this count with the peanut butter.

  • Sugar (or any of the various names for sugar) can't be one of the first five on the ingredient list.  Here is where this peanut butter gets the buzzer.  Sorry JIF!
