Red Wing, MN (KROC AM News) - After two close thin-ice calls in four days, the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office is banning motorized vehicles on four bodies of water.

A snowmobiler broke through the ice on Lake Pepin Friday and a truck fell through Monday on Lake Byllesby. The snowmobiler was saved by first responders while the driver of the truck was able to walk to shore.

Goodhue County Sheriff Marty Kelly Tuesday issued his ban for the following sites:

Lake Byllesby, Upper Harbor-Bay Point, Frontenac Pond, and Lake Pepin, including access points at Methodist Campus and Hok-si-la Landing.

The ban applies to “all motorized vehicles on this body of water including, cars, trucks, ATV’s and snowmobiles.”

The sheriff says the ban “will remain in effect until improved conditions warrant a reconsideration, which appears unlikely at this time. Any person who operates in violation of this closure is subject to a misdemeanor citation. “
