Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A new snow record for Rochester.

The city’s official snowfall total from Saturday’s snow event was 2.1 inches. That increased the seasonal total to 86.8 inches, beating the previous record of 85.1 inches set in 1996-1997.

It was also a record for April 27. The previous record was one inch, set in 2002.

The heavy snow from Saturday's storm that some had predicted for SE Minnesota never materialized as snowfall totals were only in the 1 - 3 inch range.

The weather system did bring cold air into the region and Sunday morning temperatures were below freezing in SE Minnesota. Rochester’s unofficial low of 28 degrees was just three degrees shy of the record for April 28.

Below normal temperatures are expected all week.
