St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)- A wanted Rochester man is in custody following a high-speed chase and crash in St. Paul

That’s according to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office. The alleged fleeing incident occurred on freeways surrounding Minnesota’s Capital city.

Wanted Rochester Man Accused of Leading Ramsey County Sheriff's Deputy on High Speed Chase in St. Paul

Authorities say 46-year-old James Taylor King was wanted for a burglary of an occupied home.

He also has a criminal history that includes felony domestic assault, burglary and order of protection violation convictions. 

A deputy was attempting to pull over a vehicle on Hwy. 36 around 4:30 Wednesday morning when a 2006 Cadillac STS traveling next to the deputy suddenly sped away, authorities say. 

The driver of that vehicle was later identified as King. The deputy abandoned the traffic stop, activated the vehicle’s emergency lights and attempted to pull over King.

King reached speeds exceeding 100 mph and was seen driving onto the shoulder to avoid a slow moving minivan and weaving in and out of traffic, authorities say. 

The car eventually crashed at Interstate 35E and Maryland Ave. interchange. Deputies removed King from the vehicle and arrested him after determining he was uninjured in the collision, the sheriff’s office says.
