FUN FACT: 96 million people in the United States do some birdwatching.  Whether you claim that title for yourself or not, one of the most colorful birds is about to arrive in Minnesota.  And if you take a few simple steps, you could land a few Orioles in your yard this spring and summer.

When Do Orioles Typically Arrive in Minnesota?

95% of us love to sit outside on our decks, with our coffee, and enjoy the sounds of birds at our feeders.  If you've watched The Residence on Netflix, you know that some people are a bit more extreme with their bird watching behavior and travel all around to get a glimpse of a bird they've always wanted to see.

If you are hoping that this is a spring and summer where Orioles are part of your view, here are a few things to know:

#1 - According to journeynorth.org, Orioles typically arrive in Minnesota towards the end of April and early May.  Birdwatchinghq.com says that May 10th is the magic date - so make sure your birdfeeders are out by then.

#2 - Grab the orange!  A birdfeeder that is orange should be added to your collection if you'd like to attempt to lure Orioles to your yard this year.  The bird is attracted to this color.

Do Orioles Go To The Same Nests Each Year?

According to a story by Wild Bird Watching, Orioles do return to the same territory, but the previous nest is not where they will reside.  Parts of the old nest may be destroyed and utilized for the new one.
