Small Village In Wisconsin Warns About Scam
It seems like it's been awhile since we've had a major scam to worry about but unfortunately, that ends now.
A new scam was reported in small town Wisconsin, leading local officials there to warn residents to be on the lookout.
This happened in the Village of Wind Point, a small village in Racine County. The scam is a classic, with scammers pretending to be a town official.
Officials with the Village of Wind Point issued a warning to their social media followers late last month, warning them that this scammer (or set of scammers) has been contacting many people in the local community.

Officials did not go into too many details about what this scammer was doing or trying to accomplish with this scam.
Thankfully, it doesn't seem like anyone gave any personal information away and realized it was a scam.
If you are in Wisconsin and get a call like this, since it will likely spread in the weeks to come, hang up and contact local officials directly. They can easily confirm if it was them who called you and not a scammer.

Short and simply put, it is always best to not engage when you get a phone call that doesn't seem right.
Even if it does feel right, do not give out any information over the phone and do some research first. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
