
Minnesota Weather Alert: Dangerous Cold Predicted to Move In
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Another round of dangerous arctic air is predicted to move into portions of southeast Minnesota.

It has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Cold Weather Advisory.
Officials say frostbite can occur on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes in the predicted arctic conditions. The forecast calls for windchill values to plummet well below zero.
Newly-Termed Cold Weather Advisory Issued in Southeast Minnesota for the Second Time in 2025
Last month, the National Weather Service issued the first Cold Weather Advisory in Southeast Minnesota.

In the past, the National Weather Service has warned communities of dangerously cold wind chills by issuing Wind Chill Warnings and Wind Chill Advisories.
These changes seek to clarify that cold can be dangerous with or without wind, addressing a common misconception that extreme cold is only tied to colder temperatures when there is wind

Last year, the weather service scrapped those terms and renamed them Cold Weather Advisory and Extreme Cold Warning.
Cold Weather Advisory Begins at Midnight Thursday for Rochester, MN & Most of Southeast Minnesota
The latest Cold Weather Advisory for southeast Minnesota begins at midnight on Thursday and is scheduled to expire at 9 a.m. Thursday morning. Olmsted, Dodge Fillmore and Mower Counties are listed under the advisory.
Officials say wind chills of 25 to 30 below zero are expected during the advisory. The overnight low in Rochester is predicted to tumble down to seven below zero.
Anyone traveling or venturing outside is encouraged to use caution and wear appropriate clothing.
