Winona Man Killed In Colorado Climbing Accident
A 22-year-old Minnesota man has died in what has been determined to be a climbing accident in Colorado. Mitchel Brian Halberg of Winona fell and was critically injured in the Poudre Canyon near Fort Collins on Saturday, May 18 just before 8 p.m.
The Larimer County Coroner has determined that Halberg died of a blunt force head injury. Deputies who responded to Highway 14 near Poudre Canyon, in regards to reports of a climber who fell and was critically injured Saturday evening. The deputies assisted first responders and two members of the climbing party performing CPR on Halberg. Unfortunately, Halberg was pronounced dead at the scene.
Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon in Winona according to his online obituary.
