Woman Charged for Busting Window of Rochester Transit Bus
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Olmsted County prosecutors filed charges Thursday against a Rochester woman accused of damaging the driver’s-side window of a Rochester Public Transit bus in July.
Court records accuse 33-year-old Krystal Phillips of throwing three large objects at the bus near a bus stop at the intersection of 6th Ave. and 2nd St. Southwest on July 19. Responding officers reported the bus’s driver-side window had a large, circular crack and that outer glass was shattering.
Surveillance footage from the bus struck by the object and two other buses in the area shows Phillips attempting to board a bus as it was pulling away, then throwing the objects at the bus that suffered the shattered window and finally her stopping a third bus in the middle of the street, according to the criminal complaint.
Court records say the cost to repair the busted window was $1,025. Phillips denied throwing objects at a bus when she spoke with officers after the incident, the complaint states.
Phillips has been charged with one count each of felony first-degree damage to property and felony interfering with the operation of a transit vehicle. She’s been summoned to appear in Olmsted County Court on December 1.
