‘You Make More Possible’ Open House Event At YMCA

The doors are open to the community for a behind the scenes look at the Rochester Area Family YMCA during the “You Make More Possible” Open House event on Tuesday, December 29th from 4:30pm – 6:00pm.

During this event they will be celebrating and showcasing the programs and overall structure of what the Y is all about in Rochester and what has been possible in 2015 as a result of people sharing their time, talent, and treasures with the organization.  The Y is celebrating what has been possible, celebrating the lives that were changed for the positive, and thanking those who helped others this past year.  A few examples of their successful year include:

*over 500 swimming lessons were provided to kids in the Rochester area for free.  Swimming lessons are skills that every child should be provided to help them stay safe while they are in and around water.

*close to 60 cancer survivors were provided the tools, resources and support to learn how to exercise in a program called LIVESTRONG.  This is a free, 12 week program that is available only at the Rochester Area Family YMCA and close to 400 other YMCA locations.

*over 1,600 individuals were provided a Y membership in 2016 through the Open Doors Scholarship program at the Rochester Area Family YMCA.

The Y is not just a gym or a building where you can swim indoors.  The Y is about others.
