Zumbrota, MN (KROC-AM News) - Motorists in the Zumbrota area are facing a disruption for an unknown period of time.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has closed the eastbound lane of the Highway 60 bridge over Highway 52 at Zumbrota due to damage to three beams.

MnDOT says the damage was apparently caused by machinery being carried by a truck in the right lane of northbound Highway 52. MnDOT inspectors investigated the damage Wednesday and have been consulting with bridge engineers. Further assessment will occur.

As a precaution, the eastbound lane is closed until further notice. Traffic across the bridge is being controlled by temporary traffic signals that allow one-way traffic to use the westbound lane.

MnDOT personnel discovered the damage. No one reported hitting the bridge.

The bridge sees an average of approximately 4,000 vehicles per day.
