(VIDEOS) Illinois Hit by Devastating Hail and Tornadoes Tuesday

Golf ball-sized hail, massive lightning, and multiple tornadoes were spotted on Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 near the Chicago, Illinois area.  Due to the massive storm rolling through the area, it may be a while before the actual number of tornadoes is reported but photos of damaged property are already being posted on social media.

Tornado Warning Issued For a Large Portion of Illinois on Tuesday

Tuesday was a rollercoaster of weather throughout the Midwest.  Temperatures dipped rapidly in Iowa and Minnesota and as winter coats were being pulled out again, residents in Illinois were asked to take shelter.

I didn't realize how horrible the weather was in Illinois until my brother-in-law sent a text stating that a tornado was just outside their town.  That's when I opened up X(Twitter).  I was NOT expecting a tornado warning as large as 25.2 miles near Chicago.

Neighborhoods to the West of Chicago, Illinois Told To Prepare for Tornadoes

The line of storms rolling through Illinois were intense and residents to the West of Chicago started hearing sirens.  And according to @amni_kh on X (Twitter), a tornado was spotted near Somonauk, Illinois.

A gorgeous tornado was also spotted near Mendota, Illinois.

Aurora, Illinois was another location near Chicago where it was indicated that a tornado was confirmed.

Damage Reports From Tornadoes in Illinois on February 27th, 2024

Such a devastating night for so many in Illinois.  As the severe weather rolled through Illinois with hail, high winds, lightning, and tornadoes, the signs of damage in the path were evident.
