It Was the Hottest Day in Nearly A Year
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It was a hot start for the month of June in southeast Minnesota as temperatures were 10-20 degrees above average.
Rochester’s high temperatures reached 87 on Friday, 92 Saturday and 87 on Sunday.
The Saturday reading was the warmest it’s been in the city since June 10th last year. It just missed the record for the date by a few degrees.
The 92 degree reading was recorded just after 2 p.m. The temperature fell about 20 degrees when storm cells moved through the region. The storms produced a lot of thunder and lightning but not a lot of rain. The Rochester area received only about a tenth of an inch. Plainview had the highest total at 1.27 inches while Byron reported about 9-tenths of an inch.
Less than an inch of rain has been recorded at the Rochester airport during the last two weeks and it appears this will be a dry, warm week across all of southeast Minnesota.
