The 2014 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree will be lit tonight during a ceremony on the lawn of the Capitol.

 House Speaker John Boehner gets the honor of turning on the lights during the annual event  (4pm Minnesota time).

 The 88 foot white spruce came from the Chippewa National Forest in northern Minnesota and it made 30 stops on its 2700 mile trip to Washington, D.C.  Rochester was one of the stops.

It will be on display at the Capitol through January 1st.
