The Spelling Bee ran out of Words! Can you believe that? Last Saturday, in Kansas City, 25 contestants were whittled down to 2.  19 rounds left those 2, and they must have been some good spellers, because, they ran the bee dry!  When the 2 were left, a 11 year old, and a 13 year old, the competition was fierce.

They battled head to head for several hours, and 47 entire rounds before, the Jackson County Spelling Bee called a 'Time Out'.  They could not continue without more words!  The co-coordinator of the Bee claims it was legendary.

They had to run, grab a dictionary, and figure out some more words to challenge these contestants and eliminate out a winner. A 5th grader and a 7th grader, Sophia Hoffman, and Kush Sharma ran thru an additional 20 words after the break was over, everyone involved was tired out.  66 rounds of competition compared to last years 21.  March 8th the competition will resume.  I guess the good news is, there are a couple of kids who can spell well!
