Rochester MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for threatening a man with a knife in Rochester last summer. 32-year-old Bashir Farah was convicted of second-degree assault and 2 counts of stalking during his trial last month. He was arrested in June following an incident that occurred while a 22-year-old man was helping another person with a move in the 500 block of 14th Street Southeast.

The victim told police he was approached by a group of Somali men and Farah waved a knife at him after he refused to join the group. He told the responding officers that Farah ran off after he picked up a tire iron to defend himself.

Court records show Farah has a long criminal history that includes a half dozen felony convictions.
