If you are one of the many that have been impacted by the Broadway construction project, there was a big of good and not-so-good news that happened on my drive home today.

First, the not-so-good-news about the Broadway construction project in Rochester, Minnesota

If you have become familiar with going around Broadway and using Silver Lake Drive NE, (and having fun with all the flashing stoplights by the Civic Center and the temporary stop signs just North of that), just a heads up that Silver Lake Drive NE is not going to get you all the way any longer.

This road closure is a temporary thing but work has started. There is a road-closed sign but if you are like me, we have a lot of those signs up and there is a whole bunch of orange happening. It seems to just blur together for me.

Now the good news!  Broadway is now partially open in Rochester, Minnesota

Did you HEAR that!  Broadway is now partially open!!!!  I drove down it today and I just wanted to wave at all the fronts of businesses that I haven't had a chance to see in...well, it seems like forever.

It is still closed from Civic Center Drive to 7th Street but one lane is open in each direction from 7th Street to 13th Street (by Silver Lake Foods).

Check out these photos and see how Rochester, Minnesota has changed throughout the years!

It's hard to believe but Rochester, Minnesota didn't always have skyways and huge warehouse stores.  Scroll through the pics below to see how our town has changed throughout the years.

Wow! Check out how Rochester has changed throughout the years in these Google photos.

As we are soaring down Hwy 52, it is hard to imagine what life was like in our town before the Target store was built where it is today. Or the house that you live in now, at one point in town, that wasn't there. In fact, Rochester has grown so fast throughout the years, most of our houses weren't even around 50 years ago! Don't believe me? Look through these photos to get a glimpse of what Rochester was like years ago.
