Why Are Places Like Valleyfair Implementing Chaperone Policies?
In 2023, several parks and entertainment venues started implementing chaperone policies due to unruly behavior. Even Disney, the happiest place on earth, has encountered inappropriate behavior and has had to implement "rules and regulations" for its guests.
According to Kare 11, Valleyfair has also had incidents of unruly behavior, including one in 2023 that sent a child to the hospital.
Valleyfair stated on its website that they want this park to be a place where friends and families can have fun and enjoy all of the experiences, all while being safe.
Here's What the Full Chaperone Policy Is For Valleyfair in Minnesota
I noticed a few individuals state on the Valleyfair Facebook page that the new updated policy isn't any different than what was already in place. I wanted to see if this was true and found out, those comments were incorrect. Here is what the chaperone policy states:
Under this policy, all guests ages 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old to be admitted to or remain in the park. The policy will be in effect daily by 4:00 p.m. local time -- Valleyfair reserves the right to begin enforcing the Chaperone Policy earlier on any given day.
The chaperone policy is expanded on the following days to guests ages 15 years old or younger requiring an accompanying chaperone of at least 21 years old for the full duration of the day:
May 26
June 6 and 7
July 4
Can Someone Get Kicked Out Of Valleyfair If They Don't Follow The Chaperone Policy?
If Valleyfair staff find a park goer that is 15 years old or younger who isn't accompanied by a chaperone when the policy is in effect, they will be asked to leave.
Does Security at Valleyfair Wear Cameras
According to the statement on the Valleyfair website, yes. The security team uses body-worn cameras and surveillance cameras.
