Another Departure At Popular News Station In Southeast Minnesota

Just a few weeks after a new anchor was announced at ABC 6 News in Rochester, Minnesota, a popular face on-air let his fans know that he is leaving the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

A guy that Southeast Minnesota and Northern Iowa have welcomed into our homes each day for news the last four years has announced that he will be leaving the frozen tundra of Minnesota. To say I'm a bit jealous is an understatement because he has figured out that there are warmer places to work...and he is going there.

On Sunday, January 21st, Devin Martin shared the following news about his departure on his Facebook page:

After four years, my time at KAAL TV is coming to an end.
My last day on-air is Tuesday, I’m moving to Florida Wednesday!

I accepted a reporter position with Spectrum News 13 in Orlando! I start next month.

I’m so excited about the future. My family just moved to the sunshine state, so being closer to them everyday will be a dream come true.

Thank you to all the viewers who welcomed me into their homes every morning.

I worked hard to earn your trust.

The one part of this job I will miss the most is reporting.
Anchoring is fun, but being out in the field reporting is my true passion and calling in life.
I met so many wonderful people in Mason City, Austin, Albert Lea, and Rochester.

These pictures mean so much to me because they are why I do what I do ❤️
The stories I’ve covered stay with me, and they will forever.
I’ll never forget my time here. KAAL gave me my first opportunity out of college. The station believed in me and took a chance on me and I’m so thankful.
Our viewing area is all about hope.

With Mayo Clinic in our backyard, people come here looking for ways to move past the challenges they face everyday.

People here step up and help anyway that they can.
It has been a privilege to share those stories and many more.
