Brownsville, TX (KROC-AM NNews) - The Minnesota grandmother who became the subject of a nationwide manhunt remains in the Cameron County Jail in Brownsville, Texas following a court appearance over the weekend.

56-year-old Lois Riess was ordered held without bond pending her extradition to Florida, where she faces murder, grand theft, identity theft and larceny charges for allegedly shooting and killing 59-year-old Pamela Hutchinson at the victim’s rented condo in Fort Myers earlier this month. She is also suspected of murdering her husband in the couple’s rural Blooming Prairie home, but Dodge County officials are still preparing the criminal complaint and have apparently decided to let Florida authorities take the lead in her prosecution. Cameron County prosecutor Edward Sandoval says Riess will attend an extradition hearing Monday to send her to Florida.

It was also disclosed over the weekend that police in South Padre Island Texas obtained a search warrant and recovered two handguns from a hotel room rented by Riess shortly before her arrest last Thursday evening.
