The Channel One Regional Food Bank’s Backpack Program helps less fortunate children in 20 schools in our area. The program allows less fortunate children to access healthy food without the fear of embarrassment. Food is placed in ordinary backpacks and discreetly distributed for students to take home over the weekends and when school isn't in session.

Channel One says the program "teaches good eating habits, provides good community role models, demonstrates community pride and serves as an effective outreach program." The Channel One Backpack Program serves 1,200 students in Olmsted County. The food shelf is currently looking for Backpack volunteers.

What you would be doing:

  • Follow orders to fulfill 'Pick list"
  • Able to run and pull a pallet jack
  • Light lifting required (20 lbs.)
  • Fulfilling orders for schools
