Hasting, MN (KROC-AM News) A Twin Cities man is scheduled to be sentenced in August for causing the death of a 3-year-old child in June 2017.

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom says 28-year-old Charles Homich today pleaded guilty to a 2nd-degree murder charge stemming from the death of Zayden Lawson, who was a foster child in the care of Homich's girlfriend when he died from blunt force injuries. Homich was originally charged with multiple counts of 1st-degree and 2nd-degree murder in the case.

His girlfriend, 32-year-old Zeporia Fortenberry of Eagan, currently faces 2 counts of 2nd-degree manslaughter for her alleged involvement in the little boy's death.
