One thing that is true about Americans - we have A LOT of stuff!  Most of us have about 300,000 items in our homes...and it shows!  Our closets are packed with clothes, including those pairs of jeans that we keep holding onto just in case we finally lose that stubborn 10 pounds.

At least once a year, about 74% of Americans get a burst of energy and decide that it is time to do some decluttering!  Before you load the car up and drop off your donations to Goodwill, scroll through the list below.  Goodwill is a bit picky on what they accept and has banned several items from their donation list.

Huge List of Items That Goodwill Will NOT Accept at Stores in Rochester, Minnesota

According to zipdo.co, about 18,000 pounds of donations are dropped off each week at thrift stores.  5 billion of those pounds are just clothing!  Pretty sure I was one of the biggest contributors to those numbers a few years ago.

Two years ago, I decided to overhaul our entire basement level - new flooring, new paint in all of the rooms...the word "disaster" is an understatement for what my house looked like.  Everything in our basement was shoved into one room for a week.  As I started to slowly put our home back together, I told everyone in the house that if there isn't a spot for an item, it isn't staying.

Our pile of items to drop off at Goodwill started to fill up the back of my SUV quickly.  As I was in the line at the NW Goodwill store in Rochester to drop off all of the items I no longer needed, I noticed that they had a list of items that they wouldn't accept.
