Hasting, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Dakota County man is scheduled to be sentenced in October for causing the death of his girlfriend in a traffic crash on Valentines Day.

53-year-old Michael Serres of Hampton today entered a guilty plea to a charge of criminal vehicular homicide stemming from a crash that occurred on Highway 50 between Hampton and Miesville late on the night of February 14th. The criminal complaint indicated Serres admitted consuming 10 to 12 alcoholic drinks at a nearby restaurant before the pickup he was driving went into the ditch along the highway and rolled into a field.

49-year-old Terri Stephenson of Hampton was in the passenger seat and was partially ejected during the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene, while Serres was transported by ambulance to a Twin Cities hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
