Thanks for entering the Y Do You Love Your Mother Giveaway! Here's Y I think my mom's pretty hip and cool!

Mom celebrated her birthday the other day. Usually her birthday falls on Mother's Day, so it's a two-for-one. Not this year, though.

I think she's pretty cool.

Back in the '80's she took me and a couple of buddies to see our very first R-rated movie! i KNOW, right?!

Now Dad was always kind of a "prude". He was Captain America. He'd go to a PG movie and complain about the language. I mean no disrespect to the Old Man - he did have a point. But I doubt that he and I could ever sit down together and watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail, or Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein together. Funny thing? Dad had a "language barrier", but he was a huge James Bond fan. Specifically, he was a Sean Connery James Bond fan. Let me know when you get "there" with that one.

Anyway, Mom took me and my two best friends, Steve and Derrick to see The Blues Brothers.

I'd argue that it is probably THE best Saturday Night Live skit that's ever been made into a movie. Yeah, I'm lookin' at you Coneheads. Yeah, it's pretty crude and inappropriate for the kids we were at our age at the time. She may have gotten points taken off for contributing to the delinquency of minors, but that's Mom. The Blues Brothers is another movie I could watch over and over again.
