Two weeks ago, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained two individuals from a local restaurant in Rochester, Minnesota. The restaurant had to close one of its locations for a bit due to a lack of staff. Protests were visible in our community as well as a mixture of emotions that surfaced. But today, a bit of good news from the restaurant has appeared.

New Update From Nupa, Restaurant in Rochester Impacted By ICE
ICE raids have been amplified in 2025. USA Today recently stated that schools have reported big problems due to ICE raids this year. Based on a story by NBC News, the number of people detained by ICE in mid-February of this year was 41.169. The capacity to hold those detained by ICE nationwide is 41.500.
The ICE raids are hitting multiple states and in Minnesota, that has been felt by a local restaurant in Rochester, Minnesota.
February 12th is a day that Nupa, one of Rochester's well-known restaurants, will never forget. ICE showed up and detained two individuals that were employed by their restaurant. Nupa, a Greek restaurant in Rochester, initially had to close one of its two locations temporarily because these employees were an integral part of the operations each day. Without them, there just weren't enough people to work.
A few days ago, Nupa shared with its fans that an immigration hearing was being planned for one of the individuals this week. They didn't know at the time if it would be allowed but they were planning to be there to show support and encouraged others to attend as well.
Today, a bit of good news has surfaced as a result of that immigration hearing.
