Faribault, MN (KROC-AM News)- The State Patrol suspects alcohol was involved in an injury crash at a Rice County intersection Thursday afternoon.

The three-vehicle crash was reported shortly before 3 p.m. The crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 60 and Echo Ave., which is about six miles west of Faribault

The state crash report indicates a car was traveling west on Hwy. 60 when it crossed the center line and collided with an SUV that was heading east on the two-lane highway. A third vehicle then rear-ended the SUV after the initial collision. 

The woman operating the car, identified as 68-year-old Dianne Rivet of Mankato, and the SUV driver, 60-year-old Scott Moncelle of Elysian, were brought to a hospital with what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries. The third driver, 62-year-old Eric Lundin of Northfield, was not hurt.

Troopers suspected Rivet had alcohol in her system at the time of the crash, the report says. All three drivers were buckled up. 

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Morristown Fire Department and North Ambulance also responded to the three-vehicle crash.
